My name is Steve and I have just inherited the Freedom 21 sailboat
from my father-in-law. Will be fixing it up this summer and putting
it in the water at Galveston Bay, Texas
I’m new to sailing and new to sailing a Freedom 21. I have been
monitoring the discussions here and I am very impressed with the
sailor’s knowledge in this group.
I need some help in rigging/installing the composite mast. What do
I need in terms of hardware, etc. Also I would like to replace the
main halyards and any other lines as required.
I would compile all the information received and basically put out a
mast rigging 101.

What a great inheritance! May you get her in fine shape and start enjoying soon!
Assuming the Carbon Fiber mast is out you are in a good position to check it top
to
bottom, re-wire, replace worn parts, etc.
When restepping, the connection at the keel is critical. Make sure it is bolted
well.
You can use the traditional chocks at the patners (where it passes thru the
deck) or go
with a Spartite system).
New Halyards aren’t cheap but are probably the first investment to make in
running
rigging.
