Looking at Freedom 32s listed for sale I see that some say they
are “cat sloops” and others just don’t make any mention of this. Can
anyone tell me if all F32s are cat sloops? Does this simply mean
that the mast is positioned a little bit further forward and the jib
is just a very small sail? Or are there two different rigs on F32s?
Thanks.

I think all Hoyt 32s and 29s are cat-sloops, a term which many dislike, since the boats are sloops. But indeed the mast is further foreward than on most sloops and the jib is small. Without a backstay, a masthead jib would likely lead to many broken masts, as those who have flown full-hoist spinnakers have discovered. The Mull-era boats are all cat-sloops, as are the newer Pedrick designs.

Cat sloop has two masts with “windsurfer” type sails, no or very small jib.
Indeed they are not designed or stayed for spinnaker type sails and the immense
loads those type of sails put on a rig.
Almost every F32 is a cat sloop.

sorry, but if it has two masts it’s a ketch, yawl, or schooner. In
the case of freedoms it’s got to be a ketch or schooner - don’t know
that they made any yawls (though the original F40 center cockpit
might technically qualify). Sloop implies one mast.

Right, and even the Original F40 is still a ketch, as the mizzen mast is foreward of the rudder post.
