Mizzen Staysail/Spinnaker questions

Posted by lance_ryley (lance_ryley@…>)

Ok,
I’ve had my head in the engine room for the past two weeks rewiring,
checking hydraulics, doing oil and fuel filter changes, and now I
want to think about SAILING. I can’t find any documentation about
flying the spinnaker or staysail on the Cat Ketch 40. I understand
from previous posts that the tack goes to the windward rail and the
sheet goes through a block on the mizzen boom. All well and good;
however, do you have to drop the sail to tack/jibe? If anyone has
any good docs or rigging shots, I’d appreciate it.

Thanks,
Lance

That’s correct. You can tune for wind conditions (beam to braod reach) by
moving the tack fore and aft on the toe rail.

Yes.

There is a good shot of Ketch 22 on a staysail beam reach at

Enjoy,
