Nani/Bright Star New Home

Nani (Bright Star) is finally home!

After a lovely cruise from Boston to Barrington RI, Nani was loaded
in a truck and delivered safely in Lake Lanier GA.

I just bought Bring Star from Lance (July 30). In the process I had
the pleasure of meeting Lance and a delightfull cruise through Cape
cog canal, Cuttyhunk, Buzzard’s bay and up Narranganset bay to
Barrington. Despite my stress and aprehension the mast removal went
well. Bright Star’s masts had partners made of a rubbery material
that was hard to remove. Once the gaskets were out the masts came
out without a fuss. I had the invaluable advise of Paul Dennis to
supervise the mast removal. Stepping the masts was easy. Following
Paul’s advice, the gaskets have been replaced with SparTite.

The transport went very well, the only casualty of the road trip was
my laptop’s keyboard (hence the late posting). I have posted
pictures of the loading and mast removal on the photos section.

Cheers,

Alex Navarrete

I’ve always thought that Bright Star looked like a beached whale when
she was out of the water. But without the sticks, she actually looks
kind of sleek. Congratulations on bringing Nani safely to her new
home - I’m looking forward to pictures of her on Lake Lainier and
beyond.

That’s fantastic!

I sometimes work with Pat McCartin of Inland Diesel Marine up there.
If you need something you can depend on him. Kerri and I have a
sister ship to Nani, “Marquesa”. What marina are you in up there so
we can look you up when we are up there visiting Pat and other
Renegade-Cruisers in the Atlanta area.

Congratulations!. Bright Star is a great
vessel. I had the pleasure of a sail with Lance in Boston Harbor
last year.

Wilco Alex,Mention me to Pat if you see him. It won’t get you a discount but he might tell you entertaining stories about me… heh heh. He was at the head of the “send lawyers guns and money” contingent who pulled my butt out of Mexico that time. He’s more than a great Mechanic. :)George sailorvela <sailorvela@…> wrote: Hi George, I know Pat. He is and outstanding guy (and great diesel mechanic). I am in “Sunrise Cove” marina.
