Jacqui MacConnell here. Bellingham, Washington State.
Fortunate new owner of Brian Guptil’s F36/38 Nereid.
He has moved on to a massive refit of Cayenne, an F44
hurricane salvage lying New Orleans. Doing a stunning
job, and very near fully re-commissioned. Last I heard
the only systems he had not had to replace/repair were
the water tank and the fuel tank. Stout heart, Sir Brian.
Delighted with our vessel in every way, and have wanted
to own a Freedom for many years. My son Orion and I
had once hoped to buy “Legacy” from the redoubtable
skippers Chris and Heather Stockard, and had the good
fortune of being hosted by them in Juneau. Captain Chris
showed us how the Juneau Cup is won. Some great fun
and people.
We are slowly coming to know Nereid, which will be renamed
via appropriate marine voodoo ceremonies come next haulout.
Name has been chosen, and is available on request for now to
those who have seen the film Pirates of the Carribeaan. Until
vessel is formally renamed and repainted.
We are the third owners. First family called her “Freedom’s Child”.
I do not recall that family’s name, but will look backward in logs.
We are hull 48. And very happy to be so!
Kind greetings to you all. Would love to know if anyone is keeping
a general information page, historic reviews, fixes, etc. My prior
group, the cal-list at sail.net, has an excellent camaraderie and
beneficial exchange of info. We also set up pub rendevous near
in time and location to big boat shows. The better to meet each other.
Very fun.
Anything like any of that go on with this list ?
Kind regards,
Jacqui MacConnell

Hi Jacqui,
Nice introduction, wish you lot’s of happy miles with your new pirate
ship.
Perhaps Brian likes to join the F44 group.
He should be a member of honor, I have seen Cayenne two years ago and
am not surprised about the amount of work needed!
Cheers,
Gio
