I am a proud new owner of a 1982 Freedom 28. Purchased in May at Kingson Ontario, I have just completed a 5 day delivery cruise to my home in Port Stanley Ontario. My marina is located on a creek feeding into Lake Erie, often subject to low water and so this boat was one of the best options i could have. Sailing characteristics of this boat have really impressed me and she seems like a perfect choice for a seasoned senior to enjoy into the less physically active years. My interest in catboats was tweaked by my one time 94 year old dock partner who owned a Nonsuch 26 and sailed her solo several times a week. Unfortunately for me the Nonsuch has a fairly deep keel and the retractable keel of the Freedom really attracted me, in fact have used it more than once to float of some skinny water.

Oops, thats a typo, she is an 82, just looks much newer. Original owner was from the eastern seaboard, 2nd was from Quebec, third from Kingston and I am the fourth. Some documentation to sort through yet
Welcome aboard! There are quite a few Freedom 28 owners here and in the Facebook group, although you may want to search for the UK built ‘Freedom 30 (CK)’ version to get information from any European owners
Mine is UK built and hull number 111, hoping to have it in the water for the 2026 season (engine and sails need replacing plus minor hull repairs)
Hello Simon, Mine is Hull 25, appears lightly used over the years, owned by a lady who lived aboard, sailed seldom was apparently an obsessive cleaner,who worked at a chandlery and seemingly spent her spare funds on upgrades. Boat shines like a new penney has been repowered and i have yet to find any serious issues. I am truly a lucky man
