It’s been a month or so since I’ve posted but I’ve taken Little Bandit
up another notch. After the complete bottom job (see pics), as well as
the miracle hull polishing (chalky to gleaming white) a month or so
ago, the new sail arrived last week. I decided on a Doyle from the
Doyle Ploch loft here in St. Petersburg, FL. The same guys have been
working together for twenty years in the loft and know sails! Have they
built Freedom sails in the past? Oh yeah… The have also built for
many local “winning” race boats, as well as one of the largest square-
riggers afloat. Due to our light wind conditions here in St Pete, I
stepped down from a standard 5.5(?) oz cloth to a 4.7 oz.
I’ll try to post pics soon so you can have a look.
*Also, I believe there was an earlier posting RE: Battens. I would
suggest calling them. Once again Doyle Ploch, St Petersburg, FL

beautifully shiny?

Unfortunately Peter, my polish guy won’t reveal the secret sauce. I
did notice a thousand-island color 3M bottle in his bag of tricks.
When asked about that I was amazed to see how quickly it removed VERY
old rust spots from stainless. He did say cut the formula.
