New sails price - was; Another couple days of sailing

Posted by David Walker (wahooadv@…>)

Jim,
Sairite will sell you the kit OR build it for you! It was no 2100 - and the sail is built in the USA. I know, I contacted them and had them add all the Freedom 21’s sails to their list so I could get a price!.
Their database is currently offline - but I think the main, complete and finished, with battens and everything was 8-900. Jib was maybe 300http://www.sailrite.com/
Give them a call - I have been buying stuff from them for years… and will be redoing my canvas with new sunbrella from them soon! They are cheaper than Seattle Fabrics…Good luck
David

You might want to look on baconsails.com. Some Freedom 25’s can use a Melges 24 main.
Happy hunting.

Well, we spent last Saturday and Sunday sailing again down here on Tampa Bay. The wind was light mid day but the breeze picked up about 3pm both days and it was “go time”. I have decided that the boat will be headed to the local yard before this week is finished and will be hauled for a complete bottom job, as well as a windex mounted atop the mast.Does anyone have any contacts for sails? I did get a quote for a new one but it was $2100. If I go the new route it’ll have to wait, In the meantime I’d be interested in a “very good” condition main, jib, or spinnaker. Thanks,Jim

slides/slugs, insignia, sail bag, and sail ties is about $1800

I’m placing my order in a week or so and I am going with Haarstick.

Plus Haarstick has been making these sails since the inception. $500.00
difference is worth the piece of mind that it is going to be done correctly
the first time.

I know other makers can do a very good job, but utilizing the maker of sails
the factory used when boats were commissioned is reassuring to me.

Art

I believe Haarstick prices differ depending on the season. A while ago I was quoting with them and if I remember correctly, sails ordered off season ( in the fall ) will be much cheaper than if ordered in the spring or summer

They were offering a “Winter Special” when I ordered mine in
December, but projected economic times may motivate an extension
into the Spring.
