You’ll have to forgive me for asking a non-Freedom related question, but please give me some latitude. I just finished sailing my new Knysna 550 catamaran back to the Newport area from South Africa, and am in need of getting some work done. In my 27 years as an owner of a 40/40, I rarely had it in this area, so I’m not familiar with local tradesmen. The work will be done at the Newport Shipyard. Here’s who I need:
- Painter. My longeron (the foredeck crossbeam) most likely needs to be removed, stripped, and repainted. When it was originally painted, they must have used the wrong primer, as it isn’t sticking to the aluminum, but the top-coat is sticking well to the primer.
- Window/Glass person: I have long plexiglass windows along the side that are glued in and held in place with a glazing material…the wrong glazing material. They need to be removed and re-installed. I also have 2 hatches that need rebedding, as shown by the 2 solid days of rain.
Thanks, Geoff
