Y’all prepare for winter…down here on the Texas coast, we have to
prepare for SUMMER
Winter here is usually on a Thursday
I have one of those hi/lo digital thermometers inside the boat.
Last year, it never got below 57 degrees inside…but it did get UP to
111 at some point. I have an air conditioner, but I don’t leave it
running when I’m away from the boat. I take the OPPOSITE approach from
most people to keep out mildew and dirt…I leave a electric
dehumidifier going all the time when I’m away from the boat (drains to
the sink) and an ozone generator running 12 hrs a day…and close it up
tight inside. I never have any mildew, and there’s no diesel stink
either.
Cans of beer or soda and any food that will melt are not left behind in
the boat in summer. Likewise the beeswax for the sail sewing kit,
