Owners Association

Posted by ajlorman (ajlorman@…>)

Well, the vote is in, although there certainly could be a challenge
based on the disappearance of the first poll when a new name was
added. The majority view is that the new group should be called the
Freedom Yachts Owners Association, and so it will be. I plan to
file not-for-profit incorporation papers in Washington, D.C.
shortly. If someone would like to incorpotate us elsewhere, just
let me know.

At this point, I’d ask if those who indicated a interest in joining
could either post or send me via email their name, address, email
address, boat model and name. All are welcome – encouraged – to
suggest activities/projects for the group. A few of the things on
my list are creating a relationship with Freedom Yachts (something
I’ve initiated); creating a library of owners manuals; and mining
the forum archives to create a usable data base of owner knowledge.
There is no reason to duplicate this discussion group; should the
association create a web site, I would not anticipate creating a new
forum. I’ve also contacted the International Nonsuch Associaition
and they have agreed to give us whatever help and guidance they can.

There is obviously not overwhelming interest in creating this group,
so I’d be grateful if those who are interested in participating
actively would share with me their interest and skills.

Best wishes to all for a very happy holiday season.

Mine is a Freedom 33, hull 21, built 81.
The greatest benefit I can see from our association is a catalog of sources for spare parts,
and a list of owners who have particular expertise in a particular field. There are natural offshoots from this, and will devleop as we go.

I cruise full time (that means, mostly sitting in foreign marinas 80%, 20% travel)
This was high time to happen. Congratulations, and, thank you.ajlorman <ajlorman@…> wrote:
