I recently rebuild a Perkins 4.108 on my 39PH, see share link attached:
I don’t know the root cause of the failure but the #1 Piston clamp fell off. One of the bolts showed clear signs of a fatigue failure and the other showed a catastrophic failure.
Downloaded that movie. Inspirational!
And intimidating. I have an old Perkins like that. Running well now but….
This looks like an oil feed problem had a similar issue with a car diesel engine which was put down to a blocked oil feed ,when I asked what I could have done to stop this other than regular oil and filter changes was told not a lot !!!
