I found a bunch of mold-release plastic wrapper in my mast. Stiff
crackly acetate like stuff.
Make sure to clean it when it is down, a “cat-o-nine-tails” the right
size would be a good tool. A long wooden stick with a nail will do.

Al, Thanks for the info! I found the same thing in the masts of my 1982 F33. I erroneously thought that it had been put there by someone in a feeble attempt to keep electrical wiring from slapping at the inside of the masts while at anchor. This had always been a head scratcher for me, so I just left it in there. Didn’t seem to be hurting anything as the F33 has no internal lines running up the masts! Thanks for clearing up this long running mystery for me! Skip:)Medium Al <hjulbyhavn@…> wrote: I found a bunch of mold-release plastic wrapper in my mast. Stiffcrackly acetate like stuff. Where do the wires for the VHF antenna, mast and anchor lights go? Wind
instruments?

Well I’m not sure why it would matter if one left the
releasing paper in the mast. A bunch fell out of mine when we pulled it but
there is still plenty up there. We rewired the mast and found that there were
at least two “partitions” presumably to hold the wires from
swinging around inside. Easy to punch new holes through the partitions if you
have to, they are quite thin. We wrapped the new wires in foam tubing. I was
considering spraying in foam in the lower part as a noise reducer for the forward
cabin (ie: below the halyards), but can’t decide whether that would
really help reduce any noise and whether it might prove a problem in some way.
For some reason we had no switch for the anchor light part
of the Perko masthead light (it is a combo steaming/anchor light) but we did
have a bow light switch. Anyway I replaced the whole thing with a single anchor
light and added a foredeck bow light about 16 ft up from the deck. So need to
add two new switches. Trying to find a two switch panel from Blueseas etc –
no luck anyone know where to find one?

For my new deck light I purchased a wireless
remote control switch form Fourwinds. I figure I can use it (fits on a keychain)
when dinghying or walking to the boat to illuminate it on my way there. Just an
alternative.

You connect this in the power cable at any
point inside the boat. Instead or in addition to a manual switch.
