Prop size for Freedom 33?

I’ve got a Freedom 33 Cat Ketch (centerboard), and am considering a
new prop for it. What have other F33 owners used, and what do you
think of them?

My engine is a Yanmar 3YM30 (the successor to the 3GM30, 29HP instead
of 27HP), with the KM2P transmission, 2.62:1.

My existing prop is a 15" by ??? two-blade fixed prop. I expect it
is the original one purchased with the boat, but I don’t know.

I find it goes well enough in forward, but pulls to port pretty bad in
reverse, and doesn’t have much power either.

What size/pitch prop do other F33 owners have? I am especially
interested in 3-blade fixed or 3-blade folding models.

I have an F33 with a 3GM30. I put a
variprop feathering prop on it (previously had a 16 inch 2 bladed). My
reduction ration is 0765 andtransmission is KM3D .
Given the aperture height they made a
custom size 15.5” 3 bladed prop since they felt the clearance was better.
No extra charge for the special size. I could have also gone for a smaller 4
bladed but it was more money.
With the Variprop you can adjust forward
and reverse pitch separately. I’ve played with the adjustment. For my
preference I go for plenty of power in reverse (and still have significant pulling
to port). I can stop short. Plenty of forward power.
The Vari prop has some nice features. A
key one was the very short hub so it fits easily on an F-33 without shaft length,
rudder clearance issues. It also has some shock dampening (rubber or something)
when switching gears.
If you go with a Vari prop I can give you
my pitch settings and other info.
