I have one horizontal 6 lb alum propane tank; but, need a backup. Does
anyone know where to purchase one? A Google search has come up dry.

Try ww.go2marine.com. Search “propane” Note: a Horz is about 50% that the same size vert.

Thanks Van, but they only have the 6lb vertical. The F32 lockers
can’t hold anything bigger.

One thing I have considered using is disposable 1 lb propane cyls. You can buy them for about $2 ea in pks of 6 at Cosco. You can buy a propane disp. bottle adapter to regualtor (G-488P) from Marshall brass. May cost more per lb of propane, but figuring the cost of a propane tank, you can buy a lot of propane even at the higher cost/lb. And, if there is a leak, the most that will leak is 1 lb. I use to store the spares in a PVC tube mouting on the stern rail. No propane below decks. Also no need to lug tanks for refill.

Defender and West Marine (West Bucks) has
aluminum ones but are expensive, $140. These I know fit in the
F35s. I have a 5 lb tank and will have two for my F30, these are

I was able to purchase a Worthington (same as original) 6 lb. cylinder through
my local
propane distributor who fitted a horizontal valve on it.

COOL! Could you give me contact information for your local distributor?

I’ve looked everywhere, I’ve even called Worthington themselves. No
luck. I have an extra tank with a bad valve and my local guys take one
look at it, they say there is no horizontal valve available for it and
they send me packing. If I could just get the valve itself from your
guy I could have a spare tank again!

Check Hamilton Marine as well - they have some horizontals, just don’t
know if they’re the right size.

Rick,

I went to a propane company that sells and fills large “pigs” for home heating,
cooking, etc.,
before OPD valves were required on horizontal tanks. I checked with the local
guy who said
they have OPD valves for horizontal tanks now, but he doesn’t carry them, sorry.
IHe suggest
trying a larger propane supplier.
