Lola
You are in the Myrtle Beach Yacht
Club? If so where do you sail? How long does it take to get to the
ocean?

Rigging Question

If you search the archives (may be on the old yahoo group) for
mizzen staysail you should find some detailed posting from Michel Capel .
He loved using the larger mizzen staysails and said it made a huge difference
off the wind and in light air.
Of course to tack or jibe you have to lower it.
You run the sheet through a block at the end of the mizzen boom.
Michel had the original wishbone rig.
I don’t use mizzen staysails but have a converted rig and
much larger roach sails then the original so I’m not sure if the
difference would be as much.

OK, I have the
sail, the sheet, the running back stay, and the padeyes:) Now all I have to
do is give it a try!

\

Has anyone used
this sail? What are the points of sail they are designed for? Have you found
it to be worth the effort to fly it? If it is effective at all, It looks like
it would be a good one to fly in light air, if you are not going to be doing
a lot of tacking! Am I right on this?

Thanks agian:)

They are for the mizzen staysails
regardless of whether it’s the original rig or not. And there should be
padeyes further aft on the coaming for the running backstays when fliying a mizzen
staysail .

Rigging Question

\

My 1982 F33 CK
has been modified from its original wishbone
configuration to standard sails, tracks and booms.

My question is this; I have two winches mounted on the teak combing
at each side of the cockpit. It seems to me that I have seen
wishbone rigs with and without these winches, so what were they for
originally?

Could it be that they have nothing to do with the wishbones at all,
but rather the Sail that flies from the mizzen masthead forward.
Which I have yet to fly! (I am embarrassed to admit, the name of that
sail escapes me at the moment! GOD, growing old is HELL!)
Drifter?.. … That just doesn’t sound right?! Well anyway, I am
sure you get the gist of my question!

Thanks All
