I will probably have a conversation with Paul Dennis this Friday regarding my hull/core repairs. He charges a little bit for consultation, which is totally understandable and respected given his experience and valuable time.
Given that my questions probably won’t take very long and he has a minimum of one hour, does anyone else have any questions I might be able to slip into the conversation while I’m at it?
Oh that is very generous of you. Actually I have a question: The rudder on my F33 sloop (UK built F32 ) has hairline cracks along the leading and trailing edges. I suspect water ingress is causing the foam core to expand. What would be the best approach to open it and to rebuild it?
Best of luck with the core replacement.
Many thanks for the offer.
Could you please ask him if high moisture levels and osmosis in the retractable centreboard should be a concern or whether I could just leave it? This is on my UK F30 cat ketch.
As I also have high moisture levels in the rudder and hull below the waterline I’ll also be very interested in the responses you get on your core/rudder questions (apparentlythe balsa core on the UK built F 28/30 extends away below the waterline)
Sorry all, I had a list of questions, but when the call came, I couldn’t find it and completely spaced. I even forgot some things I wanted to ask for my own boat. All in all, a very nice guy and obviously knowledgeable and experienced, but not a lot of help with my hull repair issue.
