I have the original Freedom manual and it has a drawing of the
wishbone as well as running rigging lists with lengths of lines etc but I don’t
see any dimensions or scaling for the wishbones.
Maybe something is posted on the newer (current) freedom group …

Does anyone have the dimensions of the original
wisbone main boom?
(over all lenght, maximum width, wallthickness of the alloy)

Alan, thanks.
I am particularly looking for the wall thickness of the main boom. I had lost mine overboard )along with the mast) a long time ago, and had it replaced with a straight boom.
I am doing a total refit now and want to go back to the wishbone, built one our of 2 2 schedule 40 aluminum pipe, which proves to be too weak.
any idea where I might get that info without cutting into my (original) mizzen boom to measure its thickness?

Well, I’ve got an original F33 main boom*, and I’m not sure what I’ll wanna do
with it after I finish building my junk sails. If you want to come to Beaufort,
NC you can take any measurements you want! In fact, I’ll probably be happy let
it leave my hands…I’ll have to talk to my wife about details if you are
interested…email me.
If you aren’t nearby, I’ll see what I can do. Perhaps I can drill out a rivit
or something and measure the wall thickness. I can certainly take and email
pictures.
I can confirm that the pipe size looks the same as the mizzen in the part where
it goes forward of the mast, but it has a larger pipe welded over it for most of
the length of the boom.
Barry
- Well, I’m 97% sure I’ve got original sails, so I’m pretty sure the wishbone is
original too!
P.S. Most of the Freedom owners have moved to the new “FreedomOwnersGroup” list
instead of the one you posted on.

Besides, Beaufort, NC is a neat little town to visit. If Frank does
visit, I recommend an extra day or two to see and enjoy the
sights/sites. Herm
