All you f21 spinnaker users I have a question. As I
am interpreting the setup instructions for the
spinnaker.
It sounds like the spinnaker halyard and retrieval
line are one in the same. Is that how it works or do
I need a separate retrieval line??? thanks… It
sounds like the but end of the halyard is tied to the
bullet in the center of the spinnaker.

They are not the same and should not be.
The retrieval line needs to be lighter and flexible and it does not
need to be that strong. Mine is no more that 1/4 - maybe 3/8 - of
braided nylon. Because it immediately spoils the shape of the
spinnaker it does not see the forces of the full sail. If it is not
light enough it can spoil the spinnaker trim.
Be very carefull with the top of the spinnaker sock. The “standard”
nylon rope (thin) used for lacing the sock on the stanchion on gets
hard enough to cut the spinnaker cloth with time. When I sow my new
sock I will use a double layer with foam (that can be replaced easily)
- make it fold over and lace it on the backside. I will also sow the
sock so it rests above the deck. This can be done by sewing in both a
top and buttom channel for a support line.
