Re: Freedom 25 Lifting Keel/ Liner for gunmount tube

Posted by Charlie L. (clivaday@…>)

Simon. Your stainless gunmount tube should have a plastic liner, to
allow the pole to slide easily. My replacement method is: 1. measure
the inside diameter of the stainless tube. 2. Get a piece of PVC
pipe, the length of the stainless tube, but one inch LARGER in
diameter. 3. Lengthwise, slice out a one inch section of the PVC. 4.
Squeeze the pvc tube together, and insert the pvc into the stainless
tube. Since the pvc was originally one inch larger than the stainless
tube, it will exert outward pressure on the inside of the steel tube,
keeping it in place. Good luck and happy sailing. Charlie on Mobile
Bay.

Dave and Simon

I do not believe any lifting keel models were sold in US or
Canada.

Does any of you know where I could purchase a plastic sleeve for
my F25 Gun Mount.

Dave,

Correct. Freedom 25 with a hydraulic vertical lifting keel. My

hull number/sail number is 129. I think mine is the only example in
the U.K.

I never knew Freedom made a lifting keel version of the F-25.

Dammit

I want one! We're talking about the 25 right? Not the 24

which was

only made in small numbers. Were there any lifting keel

models with

  rotating masts?

Charlie,

Many thanks for the info I nearly gave-up on the bloody thing. I’ll go down to the boat yard tomorrow and measure!

I’m not surprised. I’m not an expert on Freedoms but I was pretty
sure there were no 25’s made in North America with a lifting keel.
The 24’s are cool boats but they are not very common and tend to be
expensive. I’ve noticed the ones that go on the market tend to take
quite a while to sell.
