Re: Fuel Treatment/Black Smoke

I have just tried to follow this thread. What engine are we talking
about?

I noted you are getting this problem at 2,600 RPM and running out of
RPM’s at 2,800 but don’t recall the engine.

Testing the injectors can be done at most diesel injection or truck
repair company. They normally have a nozzle tester that should be
able to tell if the spray pattern is consistent or the injector
nozzle is dripping fuel.

Also, agree about the air filter as a possible problem. I have seen
those that look good but collapsed and strangled the engine at over
certain RPM’s

Normally if it’s a fuel supply problem caused by a restricted filter
or blockage at the fuel pick-up in the tank a `lean’ fuel situation
arises. This can be seen if the engine temperature rises when on
load due to the weak fuel mixture. If this happens then it is not a
black smoke situation.
