Re: more guilty secrets

OK. We’re in to disclosures now? Love that. Thank you, Lola, for the
hilarity you
are injecting by way of your willing to be open. I keep seeing new
Coen-brothers
tableaus with each of your posts. Too dratted funny. Warms up the
Winter, here.

This morning, I’m trying to envision you and two cats en leashe’
swaggering down
the docks, headed to the artfully hung gallery at sea, complete with
scattered rug.
Will you puh-leeazze send us all some digipix once you’ve completed
the installation?
You are a good sport to share what was sure to be such controversial
info with us all.

When I purchased Sparrow in 2003, the boat broker had a very nice
Persian hall
runner rug/carpet in the main saloon. Color-keyed to the vessels flag
blue hull
with burgundy accents. I was impressed. Classical music was playing
softly down
below on the nice Boston Accoustic speakers. Someone had overlooked
leaving
any Dom Peringnon there in an ice bucket, but the initial impression
was otherwise
very appealing.

Imagine my surprise on delivery when the gorgeous hand-knotted carpet
was still
there. Worth at least as much as a next cutlass bearing, maybe I
could barter it…?

We delivered the boat from Seattle to Bellingham, via a nice detour
into the San Juan
Islands. I enjoyed my very first sneak-grounding. (Go to sleep
floating at night, wake
up when the mud has overtaken you.) Other people drove, I rested. The
carpet was
an heiress touch. Later we started play racing on Wednesday nights.
Carpet got rolled
up to save on crew. Lived in the lazarrette for one season. Then, too
valuable to stay
there and rot, it lives in my nice dry garage now, still rolled up.
Someday I will find it
a handsome hall to put under it.

The drive to keep excess stuff off’n my boat continues. Last night
the 22 year old, who
had romantic date night at sea location in mind, swung by the house.
Collected our
mac-mini, and a little Viewsonic flat panel. Grabbed a few likely
DVD’s. I was about
to launch an at-home movie for myself when he tried to take the sub-
woofer and the
attached home movie surround system. I stopped that grab.

When you’re 22, maybe you can find something else to make the night
special? You
can have my boat, but get your hands off my speaker system. Ah
Freedoms, they are
inviting…
