That looks too wide to fit into the opening-is it? I have an update on the propane tank which would fit the 83 and 84 F32’s I
found at Hamilton Marine in Maine. The dimensions are correct at 22.5" x
6.3". However, after checking with the manufacturer, it is NOT a
horizontal tank. I have no idea why they would manufacture a tank of
these dimensions and make it a vertical. Sorry for the false alarm. Now
we’re back to plan B, which for me has been the purchase of a 5 lb backup
tank which will fit in the starboard lazarette. The hose will reach it
from the cockpit when I need it. I think that’s about the best we can do
without doing major alterations to the boat. I get about 2 weeks out of
the existing horizontal tank when cruising with my wife.
You should heed the requirements for ventilation for propane storage . It
has to be isolated from the bilge, and vented overboard from the bottom. If
your lazarette does not fit those requirements, then you will be placing
yourself in danger.
