I did some looking at West Marine today. They didn’t have any scupper
valves in stock. Looking through their catalog it appears they have
both thru-transom and aft mounting scuppers. I’m thinking the aft
mounted variety may be better because the inside cockpit part of the
thru-tramsom kind would need to be cut to be flush with the cockpit
floor (otherwise a small amount of water would accumulate before it
would reach the level needed to exit through the holes). I hope that
made sense.
I am curious about the best method of mounting on the outside of the
transom. It seems like it would require some acrobatics to get the four
screws in above the water without your weight pushing the holes out of
reach. Maybe tie the halyard to the dock to prevent the boat from being
aft heavy?
I am interested to see what you find.

7/8 " ( http://www.iboats.com/products/16/39678_scupper_valve.html ).Thus the rubber has a 1/8 " over-lap around the transom hole and the
rim has a 3/16 " over-lap around the rubber.I think I am going to investigate the Seadog scupper further and will
probably install them if the above is correct.Nick
P.S. I will also research best installation technique and let you know
how I am going to do it.P.S.S. Keep those plugs to keep water out in some conditions such
as a following sea.
