Did you remove the factory installed track? If not, how does it work?
I am very much interested.

My F-36 came with STRONG TRACK installed by prior owner. The system
works
well. Minimum resistance raising sail, still plenty of work due to
the
sail’s weight. Sail comes down like a freight train.

Has anyone tried the STRONG(r) Sail Track and Slide System for
main?
My
boatyard told me that they have installed several and the main is
much
easier to hoist and douse.

The Strong Track installs in/on/over the existing mast track. It is a slippery polymer which is custom milled to fit into your existing track and create a new track for the sails hardware. See this link: http://www.tidesmarine.com/sail-track.html

It slides over
the existing track and is secured at the lower
end. Best done with
mast out. Need new slides for
sail. This is a huge improvement even
for a f45 main with 7 battens.

I did it with mast in…just removed the bottom 8" of mast track which, luckily, was a separate piece anyhow. Even if it were not a separate piece, I could have drilled out some rivets and pulled the track away from the mast to get the right entry angle for the Strong Track.

I realize that you place new slides over the ends of the battens, but
what do you do about the slugs that are between the battens–leave them
in?

You can keep them if you really want to.
The recommended approach is to replace them with new stainless steel
or brass slugs. For an F36 with its large main, ss is probably the
best choice for the new slugs and batten ends.
The old plastic slugs can be easily cut out with a pair of dikes. The
new ones slide in and lock into the original loops on the sail.
