Don’t use silicone. Silicone doesn’t hold up as to longevity.
Use a polyurethane such as Boatlife’s Life Seal or a polysulfide
(e.g., Boatlife Life Caulk) or equivalent such as Sikaflex depending
upon the materials being caulked. In other words, read the label as
to the proper caulk.
Sikaflex has a complete chart as to caulks and materials. Although
a bit more expensive, and sometimes harder to get, it is what is
used by boat builders. It is great for caulking the chainplates on
traditional wire-rigged boats. Jamestown carries the stuff.

well I crumbled half of the core in this post out because it was
wet, rotted and basically disintegrated. Filing it with epoxy will
not be a problem. I took the track off and found some silicone
bedding underneath it. There was some discussion and disappointment
how manufacturer attached the track in the first place without using
any sealant. My question is how do I seal the hole setup when
putting it back ? Marine silicone around and inside every bolt hole ?Dmitry.
