An FYI regarding switching from Green to Red anti-freeze . . .
According to several sources, the Green anti-freeze must be COMPLETELY
flushed out before switching to Red. I have been told horror stories
regarding the smallest amount of Green left in the cooling system
turning to a gummy hard substance when combine with the red in high
temperatures. I was told that it can ruin your engine. Please
investigate with your own sources when switching anti-freeze.

I switched without apparent ill effect by draining the green stuff, then running clean water through several times before putting the orange in.

I suggest each
boat considering a change in the antifreeze type have a yard remove the cooling
unit and have it cleaned thoroughly. We
did this in 2003 when we changed to the orange antifreeze. Could be just luck, but the Yanmar always runs
just this side of 80 degrees.
