hello.i have a freedomm 33 cat ketch 1983 .i bought the boat 2 years ago i love the boat.it was restored al griped all new pumps wiring ect.this fall i spung a leak in the shaft log tube where it comes out of the hull where the pss shaft seal clamps on the tube. the tube is all cracked and brocken up all the way back to the hull.i took the saft out to be looked at to make sure it was not bent . i don t no how i am going to fix this problem.the tube is glassed in about 22 inche i don t want to cut that all out.i thought i might be able to sleave the in side of the tube with a smaller fiberglass tube and apoxy that in leaving 4 in or so for the cutlass bearing .then inside the boat the tube sticks out about 5 in or so and glass over that part to install the pss seal. does any body have any better ideas?or have had this problem.

smaller 1 3/16 or so.

Robert,
You could best sleeve the shaft tube on the outside. You don’t want
to restrict the water flow around the shaft and into the shaft seal,
so don’t make the tube too thin. If you buy two pieces of shaft tube,
one in thr original size, one in a larger size to fit snugly over the
original one, you can make a very clean repair and still use your
original shaft seal.
Good luck,
Michel

I got the same problem on my 33. The forward end of the pipe just seems to disintegrate. Does anyone have the ID and OD of that shaftlog for certain?I am sitting in the boondocks of Central America, and need to ship in the stuff to fix it.“michel.capel” <michel.capel@…> wrote: Robert, You could best sleeve the shaft tube on the outside.
