source for "bronzed" Stainless screws

Posted by Weeks MD, Andrew (aweeks@…>)

Anyone have a source for the ubiquitous darkened SS screws
that Freedom used in the l980s?? They are #8 oval head of various lengths.
Replacing the odd screw with new stainless stands out but I can’t find a
supplier of the original style

Andy:

If you feel real adventurous, you could try the method outlined
here: http://www.hubbardhall.com/files/BlackMagicSS.pdf. Hopefully,
someone else will provide a better solution.

Andy, I assume you are talking about interior trim fasteners? they are brass, and or bronze. Try any fastener supplier in a metro area, he will have them all.
By the way, hunting replacement parts seems to occupy a lot of time for all of us. Wouldn’t it be nice iff we could access a list of all of Freedom’s suppliers , for each of their boats?
