Spinnaker specs

I’m looking for a symetrical spinnaker for a gun on my freedom 32. Any idea of the size of the sail?

I’m not able to answer your question, but I am curious. What is the length of your ‘yard’ (the pole that slides through the gunmount)?

When Haarstick Sails (now Quantum Sails Rochester) built me a new spinnaker for my F25wm they only wanted the hoist, the yard length and the intended usage (Downwind, Reaching or All Purpose).

I’ve been looking at different Freedoms (both online and in real life) and the formula for gun-mount spinnaker dimensions seems to be:
Luff = I (Hoist)
Foot = Length of Spinnaker pole (aka Yard)
Max Girth = Length of Spinnaker pole (aka Yard)

In one of the early publicity pieces, Gary Hoyt described the Freedom spinnaker as a radial head square sail. So one yard (spinnaker pole) on the bottom and a radial head replacing the top yard. The higher the transition between Max Girth and the tapering Radial Head the more the spinnaker is a downwind sail. Conversely the lower the transition the more the spinnaker is a reaching sail. Most sailmakers will aim for a General Purpose spinnaker with the transition between the extremes.
