another but that is a lot of lunch money to save, so I can switch off
when needed without an interruption in fuel delivery. However as
suggested below I am investing in a vaccum guage which screws into the
T handle hole and as someone else suggested maybe the fuel bulb (as on
outboard engine gas lines) would work nicely for a primer pump.

Right.
The filters are particular within each brand. And even different
models of the same brand.
I replaced the entire filter unit with a Racor 500FG.
It cost around $180, but the filters are only about $8 each. And it is
much easier to change than all the other filter systems I’ve used on
mine and other boats.

Also on the Racor fuel filters, I currently use what was on the boat
Napa 3472 will a Racor convert? If so what number cross references

Thank you…Any F30 folks know also?

If you’d installed it on the downstream end of the filters, you’d
have a ready-made vacuum gauge…when the bulb collapses, it’s time
to replace the filter
(Previous comment made with tongue firmly in cheek)
(Following comment is serious)
I bet that bulb doesn’t have a 2 minute fire-life at 1200 degrees,
however.

I am sure that your concern is justified but since my bulb is under the
floor board(hatch) and actually lies on top of the fuel tank it is not
in the engine compartment. Oh well. I guess I need a review by a
higher authority. Regards, John Jones

“Higher Authority” would likely be in the form of the surveyor on
your next insurance survey. I certainly don’t pretend to be a higher
authority, just an old sailor who spent 13 years as a firefighter &
paramedic.
I tend to be, perhaps, a little “aware” of things that can get you
burned up/blown up/chopped up etc.
You have no idea how many times firefighters arrive at some
conflagration to hear “I had no idea…”

I have heard of the gas squeeze bulb as a good primer, but was told that after awhile they can dry out and inject pieces of dry rubber into the system. Sounds like you haven’t had that problem.
I now have a small pump with toggle switch on the fuel line at the fuel tank that works great. After I change the oil, I turn the toggle switch on for a minute and the fuel line is full and the engine runs fine. I’ve spent many hours with the primer pump on the engine-one that was on it’s way out so know what a pain in the neck that can be. I now don’t have to fill the racor 500 full of fuel before I put the cover on.
I am embarrased to say, that I have the pressure T handle and don’t know how to read it. There are 3 needles-which is which-didn’t come with directions about that.

If you can’t get there, just navigate through the parker.com website
Three needles as follows:
Black needle is Restriction Pointer which shows the restriction in
the system at any given point WHILE the engine is running
Red #1 rotates as you turn the clear bezel on the gauge…you set
this one to the point at which you “want” to change out the filter
(they say most pumps have trouble at 7" > 10" of mercury…or
earlier…or later.
Red #2 follows the black needle as it rises, but then stays at the
highest attained reading (even after engine is off and black needle has
gone back to zero) until you reset it with the button in the center of
the gauge
They suggest you pay attention to the point at which your engine shows
signs of filter clogging and then set your change out point accordingly.

I am embarrased to say, that I have the pressure T handle and don’t
know how to read it. There are 3 needles-which is which-didn’t come
