Help! We’ve found a storm jib on our new to us Freedom 40/40. Does anyone know how this is attached or setup. Does it go above the camber spar etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Old owner is no longer with us so flying blind on this 
I have a storm jib for my Mull 30. I tie the camberspar blade securely on deck. I have a two foot wire leader which is shackled to the deck the tack of the storm jib is secured to this leader. I then hank on the storm jib and hoist on the forestay. I have 30 foot jib sheets secured to the clew and run through blocks on the toe rail and up to a winch.
I sailed hundreds of miles on this rig when my camberspar was damaged in heavy weather. It worked very nicely.
So it can be a useful sail. I would set up and test then keep it aboard. Just figure out a reasonably workable sheeting arrangement and go for it.
