See previous comment on Vent. I may possibly mount it between the traveller,
stoppers
and starboard cleat and just replace the deck plate with a new one that is smoke
blue
clear. Then I’ll enlarge the spot where the “bottom” deck plate was (bad design
- it trapped
water from above and sent it sideways into the balsa core causing rot that
extends a
couple inches in) and finish it off somehow (epoxy? gelgoat patch? resin?) to
create a bit of
a skylight effect.
Re: stove I am using my ultralight (and ultraportable) backpacker stove from
EMS. I set it
up on the cockpit sole in case a rouge wake spills boiling water (it would just
run out the
scuppers). My little stove is so hot it boils a pot of water in a minute or two.
I grind my
beans just before the trip and use a cone filter in a holder to brew fresh
coffee right into
our insulated mugs. Gotta have great French Roast wherever!

Re: Putting a vent in the hatch.
Sean,
I did use the deck port for a Nicro solar vent. Photo:

away with
with you’ve got. There is a bit of room up there. So long as it clears the
hatch. Careful
measurements. You’ll need to change the 4" deck port anyway, so remove it and
test it
with a dry fit.Nice improvements. I fitted the area you use as your “nav station” as the
galley stove.

What do you use for a stove / cooking? I.e., boiling water for tea or
coffee while
anchored or on a mooring.-John
