Strut bearing

Posted by reedjayt2004 (reedjayt@…>)

Has anyone replaced their strut bearing? How often should this be
done? I have a Freedom 35 with a max prop. I have been getting some
noise when running at higher rpm for a long period of time. As soon
as I reduce the rpm the sound goes away. I have every invoice over the
last 11 years, so I know the bearing has never been replaced. I’m
wondering if that could be my problem. The max prop seems to be fine
and I’ve maintained that each spring.

Grab the shaft at the prop end and try ti move it side to side. If you get
anything but very minimal movement, you need a new bearing, and ,if worn,a new
or reconditioned shaft.
