Strut removal

Posted by Sward (swardfullsail@…>)

I have someone working on the boat on the hard today. He is trying to
take the strut out. Does anyone know how to access the bolts on the
inside of the hull?

Funny you should ask. I just had my strut reglassed. The bolts are accessed (on
an F25) via the cockpit lazarettes. The fuel tank is just above the bolts but
you should have enough clearance to work.

I don’t specifically recall the F-32, but the F-36 has a “pocket” molded in the the port side of the hull to accept the strut. The bolts pass thru the strut, thru the side of this pocket into the interior under the aft berth were the nuts area accessed. After the bolts are tight, the pocket is filled with putty and faired to match the hull. Sward,

If your batteries are still in the small
cupboard under the companion way stairs, you have to remove the batteries,
trays and the supporting floor panel below. You will find your bolts there……

Best Regards

Robert

Yes. I know exactly where the bolts are on the F-32, if you’re talking about the 1983-1985 model. A marina owner punched my stut through the hull when he pulled my boat to put it on the hard. You are not going to like the answer but here it is: The bolts are located in the battery compartment, under the battery boxes. The only way to get to the bolts is to remove the batteries, cut the battery box and remove and then move the cables and hoses out of the way.

God Bless and Good Luck
