Syntron Shaft Seal Information

I’d forgotten that there is a very nice fax document in the files
section about the Syntron seal.

Jeff and Lance,
on my F30 there are no bellows, the seal fits into a piece of
rubber
hose. It has to be burped by loosening a nut at the top of the
brass
fitting, letting enough water out that there is no air left, and
retightening.

Jeff,
just slide the bellows toward the stern. a gushload of water
will
come in, splashing into the boat (but more importantly, filling
the
boot). Release the bellows. Voila, burped.

I am replacing the Syntron shaft seal on my F-30 and had read
in
a
prior email about burping the seal, I presume to get air out of
it
so water is present for cooling. Can anyone provide me the “how
to
burp” directions?

Thanks,
