Hi George -
Thanks for the reply and glad to hear it was worth the installation.
If you have the time, would you clarify what you mean by “our jib was enlarged by 1/3” ? Have you gone to a bow sprit and head sail jib?
Where exactly does your geniker halyard come out? How much higher is it than the standard 3/5 camber spar rig’s jib box on the mast?
At the moment I am dealing with Doyle for some repairs and restitching on my Doyle sails. Any reason that you know of to not use them for a geniker?
Destiny will be in Warren River boat Works with Paul Dennis for the winter, starting in early october, Bor installation of running back stays, a second main halyard and a head sail halyard if that proves to be appropriate.
Thanks very much.

Hi John. While you’re doing business with Doyle, you should take a
look at their nylon UPS Sail if you’re a cruiser. It’s cut between a
spinnaker and a genoa, and has a straight luff with a high tech line
insert, so you can use a roller furler. It’ll fly downwind without a
pole. I have one for my F25, and had one for my F21. Charlie

Do you pole out your UPS or do you tack it on the top of the gun mount tube.

Hi Andre. For convenience, and ease of using the furler,I mostly
tack the UPS to the top of the gunmoubt tube, but I do not like the
way that point swivels. Sometimes I tack it to the ring on the end
of the “retracted” pole. I have not tried “extending” the pole while
flying it–too much trouble for me. When I bought the UPS I chose
the shorter luff length of 26.5’ (I lose another foot because of the
furler), instead of the “I” length of 28.5’. Good to hear from you.

Thanks Charlie,
I have been toying with the idea of an assymetric spinnaker or UPS flying 4 to 6 ? feet out front of the bow from a short sliding on deck pole ( or articulating sprit ) when on a long run or reach.
Love the way this boat flies.

Hi Andre and Charlie,
To avoid an off-set for my furler I had a tab welded on top of the
Gun Mount sleeve that is on the centerline when the yard is stowed.
Works great and allays my concern of the off-set (even though
performance wise probably is not greatly affected).
