Topside Paint Match - Freedom 33 Cat Ketch 1981

Hi there, happy to have found this forum! I often browse but this is my first time posting. I have a 1981 Freedom 33 Cat Ketch. The side of the hull and masts are painted with a very particular blue color. I believe it is original to the boat. Is there anyone to contact that would have the archives of that information? Or do you all know someone that can test paint chips to see what it is? I have tried over a dozen paints and not one blends in.

Best option is to visit a car paint shop they may have a small portable spectro which can measure the colour of your boat
Otherwise go to a paint mixing DIY shop they should have several colour swatches

Hi,

Any chance it is Epiphanes blue ?

Just a guess- topside paint is awlgrip or similar. Deck and mast would be gelcoat. Consider asking advise from Paul Warren at Warren River Boatworks

Oops of course meant Paul Dennis at Warren River Boat Works-

If the original blue is old, it’s going to be impossible to find a color that will match it if it’s a matter of retouching.
The color will be very close, but it’s impossible to recover the tarnished look of an old paint.

The best way to blend in is either stop at a straight line
Another way is to feather in by thinning down the paint and applying it over a larger area then the solid repaired area first ensure the larger are had been rubbed down and cleaned

That photo.

No wonder people like Freedoms.
