Does anyone have any experience mounting a transom tranducer for a
fishfinder on a Freedom? I want to add a fishfinder in additon to my
main depth transducer located in the bow area. I often sail in shallow
water and due to the relatively low price of these gizmos, I am
consdering adding one to “see” the bottom. I think however that due to
the propeller and keel arrangment this may not provide accurate
readings at the transom, not to mention heeling which may lift the
transducer out of the water. The other solution would be to mount the
transducer towards the bow as a “shoot through” tranducer, but I’m not
sure if this works, – is it solid fiberglas or cored below the water
line.
Thanks

Whether it’s solid or cored below the waterline really depends on
which model Freedom you have, which you didn’t mention…
…otherwise it sounds completely feasible. there’s a guy at my
marina with an arrangement like that for just that reason.

The hull is solid 6" either side of the center line. Also 2" down
from the Hull/deck junction. The transom is solid. All else is cored.
