Unstepping mast technique(s)

Hi,
I’m the new owner of a 1983 F25. I’m having the mast pulled and would appreciate hearing what the best practices are for doing so?
Thanks in advance!
Richard

For my F25 a made a 20 foot A-frame out or 1 3/4" sq aluminum. After unscrewing the L bracket at the base, and disconnecting all the wires, I make sure the mast loose at the deck level. With my boom vang pulleys and an old halyard attached above the center of gravity on the mast (tied down to the goosneck to prevent slipping up) and at the top of the A-frame, I am able to lift the mast up through the deck hole. In order to lift the base through the deck hole the L bracket has to be removed. Then it is just a matter of lowering the mast and laying it on the bow and stern pulpits.
Happy sailing

Our local yacht club has a mast hoist for member use. Ask around and see if any of your local clubs or marinas have one. If you can find one the price is right, and you don’t have to make and store an A frame hoist.

The F25 mast is quite light, and two people can easily raise and lower the mast. One person to manage the mast, and one to raise and lower on the hoist winch.

Ok guys, thanks for the input.
Had the local marina use their forklift secured with a line at the gooseneck fitting as well as a hitch further up the mast to pull it out today. Worked fine. Then Cima Boat Transport–using their Dodge 3500 dualie pickup with ‘fifth wheel’ hydraulic trailer–hauled her from the west coast of Florida over to the east coast (Port Canaveral).
