Hi fellow Freedom owners. We have a 2001 Freedom 40/40 hull #34 and
had one stanchion base damaged in Hurricane Wilma. The original base
is cast aluminum with a seagull embossed on the base. Do any of you
know the company that manufactures them? Our boat is currently for
sale and we are desperatly trying to get it back into Bristol
condistion. We’d appreciate any help! Thanks, Karen Daniels

Have you called Freedom Yachts? It’s such a newish boat that they
probably know the vendor. They might even have some in inventory. Nice
boat. Why are you selling?

Hi Dave, Thanks for your response. Yes, we contacted Freedom. We ordered and purchased the boat brand new from them, taking delivery Sept. 2000, spending over $325,000. Then we added about $60,000 worth of cruising gear and systems before we left the US. You’d think that they would be very happy to help us. We sent an e-mail to customer service in November and the guy in charge of customer service (Bob, which should read Boob) went into their stockroom and said they had none in stock and he did not know who manufactured them (What an idiot). He made no attempt to help us find the company that makes them. We know the guy as he was part of the work crew that commisioned our new boat and he couldn’t find his own ass using both hands. Somehow got promoted to head of customer service. After posting the request on the chat room I decide to try Freedom again by e-mailing all the different departments and offices
including sales as according to their website they still offer to build a new 40/40, so someone there has got to have the information. Our boat is currently listed for sale in Ft. Lauderdale, and we have been told by our broker that we have a buyer who saw the boat before the hurricane and wants to make us an offer in a few weeks. We are currently living in Arizona starting a new adventure. We lived aboard full time for five years and did a circumnavigation of the Caribbean, first going up and down the Leewards and Windwards for several years (spending hurricane seasons in Grenada), then we headed down to Venezuela for 2 years. After leaving Venezuela we sailed to Bonaire, Curacao and Aruba for a few months. We then made a non-stop trip from Aruba to the mouth of the Rio Dulce, Guatemala staying for a month up river and then went on to Belize and Mexico and then back to the US. We had to zoom up to the Cheasapeake for the final
huricane season and stayed in Annapolis, MD. It was a great adventure and we loved our boat, but we were getting a bit weary and my parents were going into their 80’s and I was wanting to be closer to them as they were starting to need some help. I also longed to have a home and garden again. As soon as the boat sells we are going to start building a house. I am a licensed massage therapist snd now work in Sedona, AZ and love it. We’re also only about 5 hours drive to th eSea of Cortez if we ever want to get our feet wet in salt water again. We also found we were always afraid to leave the boat unattended, especially down in Venezuela with all the theft, so many times missed out on interior travel to the countries we visited. I had many years of sailing and logged in over 30,000 open ocean miles before I met my husband, having sailed across the Atlantic 3 times, (Key West to England, England to Brazil and Brazil to South Africa)
then crossing the Indian Ocean from Capetown to western Australia (with a stop in Mauritius) then around the south of Australia to Sydney. I also spent a year in the Pacific half in the Marshall Islands. I also lived in Jamaica for two years. So I’ve had my share of the wild rides and high sea adventure including being caught in a hurricane force winter storm in the north Atlantic between Bermuda and the Azores. I am just ready for more creature comforts in my old age and a good safe place to write a few books about my adventures! Anyway, thanks for your response. I’ll keep bugging Freedom. Check out our web page www.sailfullmonty.com . We’re practically giving the baot away! KarenDave_Benjamin <dave_benjamin@…> wrote: Have you called Freedom

So I guess Dave Balfour is no longer working for FYI. He probably
would have been able to sort this thing out. I reviewed your website
and it looks like a great boat and a good value for the lucky next
owners. Wish I was in the market again for a liveaboard. I got to
check out the 40/40 at some point back in the 90’s. The wife and I
liked it.
