I had my ODP valve replaced yesterday at Surburban Propane in the Bay Area. Fantastic no BS tech took care of it in 30 minutes: valve, recert and fill for $60. He wanted $40 but he was such a great guy I added some additional cash.
Anyway, while I was there I was really surprised to see an identical Worthington tank in his collection of used bottles - which was quite large BTW - it had the old style valve but he offered to replace the old valve, certify and give me the tank for another $40 bucks. New, that is a $400 tank from Fisheries Supply.
I didn’t go for it because my better half would have had a stroke if I carried another boat spare into the garage. I already have a spare fuel tank, a complete rudder , two sets of companionway boards…you get the picture.
But, if anyone in the Norcal area needs a tank like this, one is available at a very reasonable cost, probably $60 or so. Suburban Propane, Concord - ask for Tony.
