Hi all,
I just sold my F33/35 catketch. Now what to do during the upcoming
holidays?
As a prelude for buying an F40 catketch myself later this or next year,
I would appreciate a tryout for say 2 weeks (Aug 6 - 20).
Any info on possibilities to rent/charter an F40 ck is welcomed. We
live in Europe, so the US west coast is a bit too far. Eastcoast US,
Florida, Carib, Europe are within range. We are a m/f couple (46/37
yrs) with two sons one aged 11 yrs and one 9 mnths. Beause of the baby
we do not have ambitious sailing plans, just some coastal cruising. I
would very much like the opportunity to sail the US north east coast.
Regards,
Michel

Michel,
Congrats on selling the 35. I’d check with some of those charter
brokers. They have worldwide databases and I’m sure they could
research it for you. If you book a charter through a broker there is
no extra fee since they get their commission from the charter
company. I’d also check with FYI. They may know of something.

I have Dave Benjamin’s old Freedom 39. If you would like to come to San Diego, I would rent it to you for a couple of weeks. The problem is that you would not be able to find another Freedom 39 that would even come close to the qualtiy of this boat. The first owner bought the hull and custom built it with many excellent modifications. It would spoil you and other Freedom 39 boats would not measure up.
Thought I would offer and maybe brag a little.

William,
We might be interested in renting Entropy sometime.
Kathy and I miss that boat. It is definitely one of a kind. There are
some really small differences like the height of the counters and the
placement of the bulkhead where you access the engine room that are
nice subtle improvements. Many of the improvements are invisible to
most folks. Underneath the teak floors and marine ply are floors made
of vertical grain fir tabbed to the hull nicely with biaxial glass.
Hull to deck joint is glassed from the inside I think. Glad it’s
still on the west coast.
Hope you’re using her a lot and enjoying it.
Dave

Bill,
Thank you very much for your kind offer. At this time, we feel the
plane trip to the US west coast is a bit too long for a 9 mnth old
baby. We have only 2 weeks this year, and that’s a bit short if you
have the opportunity to sail the US west coast. The F39 would be
nice to try out.
