Faith,
Make sure you get the correct height and also make sure you have a
written agreement with your transporter containing the correct
measurements of your boat. Also get very clear with them if you pay
for the additional height of the cradle and the truck.
I have a few nasty experiences with US yacht shippers.
This winter, I trucked an F44 from Mobile, AL to Canaveral, Fl and
from there shipped it to Flushing, the Netherlands. I was coerced by
the trucker Loadaboat (I believe they are the same company as A1, from
Driping Springs, TX)to pay more than agreed beforehand. Contact person
was one Scott Steinbaugh, nice on the phone, but not to trust. They
told me my boat was over the height limit and they made me pay a extra
$750 for a pole car; after arrival in the Netherlands I measured my
boat again (I did that too in Mobile before the transport took place)
and found that I was under the height limit.
Do no business with Soll Yacht Transport from Lauderdale, Fl; they
also blackmailed me into paying more that the agreed sum on false
grounds. As soon as these companies have your boat in their hands,
you’re into the hole and they make you pay more on whatever pretenses
they can make up.

After talking to several boat transport companies it looks as
thought A1 would be a good choice to ship our boat from RI to FL in
the fall. They’ve asked for the overall height of our Freedom 35 but
we don’t know that and are not near the boat right now to measure.
Does anyone have that dimension? Thanks, Faith
