Water accumulating in depressions at stern.

Posted by scott_shuler (scott_shuler@…>)

There are depressions at the stern of my F-21 along the rails where
water accumulates. Anyone else have this? Anyone done anything to keep
it from happening?

I think its one of the design flows Freedom yachts overlooked.
There is really no easy solution to this.scott_shuler <scott_shuler@…> wrote:

the design was changed in 1985 model freedom 21. the

cleets.

To get rid of the accumulated water, I had my yard drill a 3/16 inch
hole (angled down and outboard) trying to come out in the channel under
deck lip. Apply resin in the hole with a ear swab to seal the bare
fiberglass but keep the hole open. You have to use a right-angle drill
(with a short drill bit) to position the drill correctly. My boat was
out of the water (recommended) which made positioning the drill much
more easy. I still have to clean debris from the hole periodically but
the result is far better than before. This is not a new fix but was
posted on the old F-21 site a couple years ago.

I have the same holes on my F-21. The only
problem is the debris which plugs them from time to time. I keep a pipe clean
on my boat to clean out the holes.

I just drilled the drain holes as well. Could not get the right angle and ended up drilling in a way that it went through deck inside the boat and out through the hull. To fix this I glued in tubes cut from a discarded fishing road ( not sure if Fiberglas or carbon fiber ) and epoxyed around openings on each end. Works perfect so far.Paul Monette <pmonette@…> wrote: I have the same holes on my F-21. The only problem is the debris which plugs them from time to time.
