Water tank gauge

Hi,

I just fitted a Wema water gauge to the water tank on my F30, Simply
Different. I selected Wema becuase they utilize a tried and true internal
float system. The gauge and stainless internal rod with float were about
80 USD. Good quality. The length is 11.5 inches and the end of the
stainless shaft sits about 3/4 of an inch above the bottom of the tank.
(Any lengths are available). Clearance above the tank to the setee
plywood seat is ample. Thanks to the inspection ports installed by Al the
installation of the internal float took about 15 minutes. Sealed nicely with
an included cork gasket. Wiring took a bit longer and the gauge is
mounted on the bulkhead seperating the nav station from the aft cabin
locker. The reading (analog neeedle like a gas gauge on a car) certainly
won’t reflect precisely 3/4, 1/2 or 1/4 full etc, as the tank is shaped to
narrow as it extends along the interior hull below the starboard setee.
But once I go through a few tanks I’ll get handle on the relative amount
of water remaining at a given mark. Plus now I can fill the tank and not
use the overflow method onto the cabin sole to determine that the tank
is full!

Cheers,

Doug
