What hatches fit a F32 Hoyt? How to grind the cutout?

Posted by CMarshall (cmars@…>)

My main cabin hatch was in bad shape. Looks like it has been stood
on one too many times and the frame was cracking. A Bomar N1039
looked like the best replacement for the original Gray/Pompanette.
This was also what Bomar/Pompanette recommended as a replacement for a
model no longer made.

The new hatch didn’t fit by about an 1/8" side to side but was okay
front to back. So I spent a few hours enlarging the cutout with a rasp.
Still need to do more work to get it to fit all the way down without
making a mess of the part of the cutout that shows from the cabin…

Anyone know what hatch fits? Any idea of the best way to grind the
cutout to make it bigger? Especially at what will be the lower edge
of the new hatch. It is easier to make the opening bigger than
further in.

The F32 is on the market and I’m trying to fix up some of its problems.

Thanks,
Charles
