Where to buy a block for the centerboard?

Posted by mfeoli (manrique.feoli@…>)

Hi,

I have a freedom 33 1981, and one of the blocks that pulls the
centerboard, inside the centerboard box is completelly broken
(probably beyond restoration), it is wooden with stainless steel.

Does anyone knows a place to buy this kind of block? I already went
through WestMarine/Boat US catalogs without luck.

thanks

Hi Manrique,

I replaced all the blocks in my centreboard case with blocks of
Tufnol (walls and shieves) and stainless steel (pins and eyebolts).
They are inexpensive, durable and resistant to the unfriendly act of
making them spend their lives inside a centreboard case.
In case Tufnol is a European brandname and you cannot find them: it
is the brown plastic material made of woven cloth drenched in resin.
It can easily be drilled, honed sawn, sanded etc. Is uses a lot as
replacement of wooden blocks on classic yachts. Every sailshop sells
them overhere in Europe.

Regards,
Mike
