I purchased a wind generator and two mounting poles designed for the wind generator. The poles came with two struts each. I removed 18" from one of the 9’ poles, and erected each vertically at the aft end of the cockpit coaming. One strut was positioned from near the upper end of each pole, directed forward and to the outboard side of the coaming. One of the remaining struts was cut to match the distance between the pole bases and located near the upper end of the poles. The one remaining strut was cut in two to brace the upper horizontal strut down to each pole; knee braces. I located the radar on the shorter of the two poles, the wind generator on the tallest of the two poles and a solar panel on the horizontal strut. The arrangement was proven during a winter sail down the US west coast from Washington to So Cal. It can be seen in the picture that is a part of the database of our users group for Frihet (name of the boat -
norwegian for freedom). You have probably learned that an antenna located high will pick-up targets furthur away on the surface, and a lower one will pick-up close targets better, compromises, compromises. Good luck.dehoma <dehoma@…> wrote:

I would suggest placing the radar transmitter on a pole on the starboard side if it is to be stern mounted. This reduces the chance of a mast shadow for targets dead ahead. The smaller the radar antenna, the more this issue will come into play.
Good luck.
