That sounds like a really good idea, but how do you clean the tank if you find gunk?
I guess that question gets answered once you actually find gunk or water.
Yea, those copper washers. Took me a few years to figure that one out.

If you find gunk you cut holes for access plates. If theres no gunk…. No holes needed !
I hope yay. Played a round of the 3 bears - bought 1/2” fuel line - tooooo large, bought 3/8” line, too large, bought 5/16” line - just right
Replaced 3 lines, bled all and started. The clean black hoses are the ones I replaced
sorry, no I should have been more clear. I mean take the fuel return off the engine and blow that back into the tank. you don’t want air between the racor and the tank.
I had some gunk ,thought id cleaned it all new filters ,engine running fine . added 10 lts diesel with a shock dose of bug killer week later engine stalled ,filters were full of gunk looks like its killed off all the bugs and they settled in bottom of tank
Swapped filters engine running fine again getting good didnt spill any diesel
Got it… hope that’s not the case here- fuel filter and racor look clean (no gunk)…. Time…..
Hopefully I have this one figured out - replaced fuel lines, bled and engine fired up at dock. Did notice my secondary fuel filter bleed bolt/screw seemed wonky. Looked again at it and it was stripped- screw would start to tighten after bleeding but would not snug up. With a bit of pressure it would just keep turning. I ordered a new bolt on fuel filter unit - Amazon $69- arrives today so I’ll see how this goes but feel confident that’s the issue. Motor would run at dock but when taking out any bump or rocking/ vibration would cause air to intake into fuel line and kaput
